Buyer/Planner
Job Purpose:
This position supports plant operations through the creation, distribution, and execution of purchase orders for inventory and non-inventory products. This position focuses on maintaining production requirements and ensuring sufficient supply of raw materials and sub-components for the various manufacturing departments while minimizing raw material pricing and inventory investment.
Duties:
Manage plant wide planning/scheduling and purchasing/sourcing activities
Manage inventory quantities of all products purchased for manufacturing
Work closely with Production Planning and Scheduling, and Sales departments to plan and purchase materials for shop floor production departments to meet customer delivery requirements.
Provide product lead times to Sales department for customer quotes and inquiries
Utilize a variety of MRP and ERP programs and reports to establish efficient purchasing plans to increase throughput while minimizing downtime and changeover between shop orders
Proactively anticipate material shortages and take corrective actions to prevent shortages
Develop competitive sources for raw materials and contract manufacturing activities
Investigate inventory discrepancies and identify root cause of variance and initiate corrective actions to eliminate future variances
Review historical and future sales forecast to establish product safety stock levels, re-order points, and re-order quantities
Skills/Qualifications/Requirements:
4-year degree preferred, or equivalent experience
Working knowledge of MRP systems, preferably utilizing Exact MAX Software and ERP system
APICS/CPIM certification highly desired
Prior experience in a discrete job shop manufacturing environment a plus
Knowledge of indented BOM's desired
Detailed oriented and strong organizational and analysis skills
Self-motivated and ability to work independently
Continuous improvement and lean manufacturing experience
Ability to interact effectively with all departments and levels of the organization
Prior experience with ISO/QS certification a plus
Good to advanced excel skills

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
